Hello.  My name is Abby. I'm a small Lab mix, 1-2 years old, and I am searching for someone to love me.  I survived horrible conditions for a long time at a dog “sanctuary” in Chaparral, NM that was closed in September 2013. I still have the scars and only half of a tail.  Rescuers found me, gave me a warm bed, good food, and I am learning to trust and play.  Since September, I have lived with my other friends at the Otero County Fairgrounds and am now being kenneled at Waggin Tails kennel while I wait to be adopted.  I am pretty good with other dogs, but still a little leery.  I am learning to walk on a leash even though I'm still a little timid at times.  I am already spayed, and I have all my vaccinations.  I love toys, naps in a warm bed, and treats when I'm a 'good girl'.  We have all waited far too long to find a home of our own. We are gentle, affectionate, and ready to go to home.  Please consider adding me to your family.

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

The dogs seen below were rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in southern New Mexico in September 2013. Siberian Husky Rescue’s own Shirley Fambrough, along with many other compassionate volunteers, dedicated countless hours to saving these dogs, arranging housing and veterinary care for them, and finding loving homes for them. Dozens of dogs have already been adopted, but a few are still waiting for their forever homes. They are sweet, wonderful dogs who suffered emotional and physical abuse and neglect, but they are already overcoming their past and learning to love and trust people again. Won’t you please consider adopting one of them and providing him or her with the loving home they’ve never had?

For more information about adopting these dogs, please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

Beau

Hi. My name is Beau. I’m about 8-10 years old, am probably a mixed breed that includes some lab, and I'm a happy boy.  I am all black (ok, so I’m getting pretty grey with age), short haired, and I get along with most other dogs.  I am learning to walk on a leash, I come when you call me, and I love to smile, wag, and get petted.  When I'm out of my kennel, I enjoy running and playing. I LOVE balls and squeaky toys!  The only thing I need is a family of my own.  I've been living with other rescued dogs at the Otero County Fairgrounds since September 2013, after I was saved from an abusive situation in Chaparral, NM,  and am now waiting in a foster home   If you have room in your family for a roly-poly happy senior guy, would you please consider meeting me?  I've been waiting for a home and someone to love me for a very long time.  I am one of several dogs waiting patiently for someone to adopt us.

Please contact Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361 or Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577.

Chaplin:
This 4 y.o. husky/shepherd mix is an absolute delight!  He is a quick learning,  eager to please "love bug".  He adores his humans and he is good with other dogs, too, even small breeds. Chaplin is house trained, crate trained and he travels well in the car.  He does have lots of energy and will need a home affording him a large yard and lots of exercise.  He may do well as an only dog given the right circumstances, but a female canine companion might be best.  Chaplin is also playful & vocal, so he really prefers the home of an experienced dog owner.

If Chaplin sounds too good to be true, then submit an adoption application and call Tracey at 505-610-2773 for more information.

Cody is a young (probably around 2-3 years old) mostly Siberian Husky that just says “Regal”! He is a wooley and has a beautiful coat. He likes to play with other dogs and probably has been an outdoor dog, but we think he would be a great indoor fellow as well. Cody has that pretty split eye, one brown and one blue, and he listens well despite having little training or interaction with humans.

For more information about Cody, please call Steve at 264-2514 to meet him.

Rufio is a beautiful young male Siberian that just hasn’t had a fair shake in life yet. He has been through a few homes, and at least two shelters, by no fault of his own. He likes to follow you around and always seems curious as to what his human is doing! Rufio does well around other dogs and is comfortable in most environments. He will take a little bit of time to warm up to you, but will be a loyal and great companion. He would also make a great addition for a female dog. Rufio has that classic Siberian Husky look along with one brown and one blue eye.

Call Steve for more information about Rufio and to meet him.

Spirit
Meet Spirit, the nicest “Big Dog” we have ever had! Spirit is the gentlest, kindest dog you may ever meet, especially given his history. He was abandoned and left to fend for himself for over a year in the Gallup area. Animal Control finally caught him and we immediately knew we had to help this fellow - what a find!

He is great around other dogs and is probably about 3-4 years old. Although having lived mostly outside, we believe he will be easily housetrained and would make a great dog to have indoors with your kids, as he seems to really love kids! He has an unique personality among dogs, so if you think he may be that perfect match, you really must meet him.

Call Steve at 264-2514 form more information about Spirit.
Here is Magic.  He is young - age 1-2.  He has had a difficult first year.   Attacked by another dog while chained and did not receive medical care for a week, when the owners gave him to Las Cruces Animal Control.  Because of the injury to the leg, they were going to put him down, but his picture was sent to Husky Rescue by SW Collie Rescue.  So, here he is, the deep wound in the leg is all healed.  The emotional wounds healing  (he is still afraid of other dogs).  But he is coming around.

Magic does better with other females at this point.  He needs a strong husky leader to continue his training.  He will sit and is learning some other lessons too.  He loves to be with people - stays close and is most comfortable with reassurance.   He is eager to please.

He is neutered, chipped and has been fully vaccinated. He weighs about 65 or will when he is fully grown and filled out.

Adoption Fee is $225  For more information and to meet Magic contact Shirley at 575-434-2882

Asa: This beautiful  young (1.5 y.o.) malamute was owner surrendered to an overcrowded rural shelter weighing only 68 lbs.  and  not sure about human contact.  Fortunately, other than being malnourished,  veterinary exam/testing  showed Asa to be a healthy dog.  Asa is now flourishing in the  foster care of the shelter volunteer who saved him from euthanasia and contacted us.  He is happily eating his way towards a healthy weight of 80 lbs.  Asa is sweet, playful & friendly.  He loves going on walks and he travels well in the car.  He is housetrained and trustworthy in the house when foster mom & dad are at work. Asa also does well with his female border collie foster sister. Small breed dogs, cats, young children are not recommend. Asa would love to be adopted  by an active owner/ family who understands the Northern breed.  A female Northern breed companion would be good, but with quality human companionship, Asa could do well as an only dog.

Asa's adoption fee is $175.

If interested in this great guy, submit an adoption application.

Nelson: Look at the smile on this youngster's face after being seized in a cruelty case.  A utility worker reported his situation to Animal Control--- a short chain wrapped around his neck and tethered to a tree with no food, water or shade. NM Dogs took custody from AC and then transferred him to us.  He is named after the AC officer who conducted the investigation.

Nelson is a quick learner and eager to please.  He was easily house trained, crate trained and he travels well in the car.  He is affectionate and loving,  Nelson loves to run and tumble with his canine friends and he is learning how to be a good canine pack member.  Other than being severely underweight at the time of his legal seizure, he is 100% healthy and heartily eating his way to an appropriate weight. His forever home will need to provide him ongoing training and socialization.

Please submit an adoption application for Nelson if interested in knowing more about him.

Holly estimated age is a 8 -10 months old. She is a  white female husky mix with deep brown eyes.  Her behavior indicates that she is younger.  She came to us from Otero County Animal Control.  She currently weighs 35-40 pounds and is a quiet female (for now).  She is sweet and good with people that are calm and give her a chance to come to them.  She was terrified at animal control in her run and would relax when taken outside of the noisy kennel.  She is warming up and de-stressing in her foster home.   She is beautiful as you can see in her photo.  It will take a few days  to know more about her personality.  She is in a yard next to Magic, (also for adoption on this website).  They seem to like each other and hopefully will get a chance to play.

For more information to adopt Holly fill out the adoption application and call Shirley at 575-434-2882

Holly's Adoption Fee is $225.00
