Charley
Nearly 2 years old and in foster care for a year now, this happy, sweet mixed breed really wants a forever family. Charley is receiving some basic obedience training from a local trainer who is volunteering some of her expertise and time to our dogs. He is loving the extra attention and showing good attentiveness and response to training efforts. Charley won't fit under your Christmas tree, but he will lay on his back for belly rubs! With continued training and the TLC that only a permanent home can provide, Charley will make a great companion.
Please call Tracey at 610-2773 if interested.
P.S. Nothing "husky" about Charley...foster mom just couldn't say "no"when he was facing euthanasia due to shelter overcrowding when not even 1 year old!
Lily
This young girl needs a special home because she is deaf. Lily is a very sweet, high energy husky mix, who is about 2 years old. Lily walks well on a leash and she is housebroken and she uses a doggy door. Lily would do best as an only dog or with one other companion dog. If you can embrace Lily and her special needs, she will embrace you forever!
Please call Annie at Rio Grande Animal Humane, 220-9839, to learn more about this special girl.
If you are interested in adopting any of our available companions, please review our Adoption Process and complete our Adoption Application.
Cheyenne is a Malamute cross and just a wonderful girl. She is about 2 years old so is still very young and trainable. She has that long lovely hair of a malamute but is smaller than most. She loves to play and would love a companion to wrestle with! She has those wonderful dark brown eyes and a great personality. Please consider adopting Cheyenne if you love to walk, run, or hike with a great companion. She has primarily been outside but could probably be trained to be both inside/outside.
Call Steve at 264-2514 for more information about Cheyenne.

Gentry is one of the nicest and most personable dogs you will ever run across. Gentry is a happy-go-lucky fellow that is housetrained, neutered, and one of the most fun dogs you will ever find! He is probably about 5-6 years old so he is out of the puppy stage, but still very active and loves to go on walks or to the dog park. He has the “largest personality” of any dog I have ever taken in and deserves a great home as he is a very loving dog. His ideal home would be one without small kids or cats, but he gets along with other dogs just fine.
Please call Steve at 264-2514 for more information about Gentry.

Buddy is one of the nicest Siberian Husky/Malamute fellows you will ever meet! Buddy, like Sienna also in our care, is about 8 years old, gets along very well with other dogs and loves to hang out with humans. He is great with kids and other dogs but despite his size, needs a good fenced-in back yard. He would probably do best with someone that works from home or is around home most of the time! He is current on shot, neutered, and microchipped. When you meet this gentle giant, you will fall in love with him.
Please call Steve today at 264-2514 to meet Buddy.

This sweet and timid 3 year old was found by Valencia County Animal Control protecting her litter of 8 in a den that she built along an irrigation ditch. After her pups were sent to Colorado for adoption, Ava was scheduled for euthanasia because she was so fearful of people (but never aggressive). We took Ava and upon vet exam learned that she had a dangerously high temperature due to mastitis (mammary gland infection). Ava is now healthy and happy and ready for her new and permanent home. Ava is still slow to trust, so needs to go to a home where her need for continued reassurance that people are OK will be respected. Ava is housetrained and good with other dogs.
She would probably do best with a mature couple or family where someone is around and chaos and commotion are minimal.
Ava is a wonderful and special girl....she protected and raised her pups when she herself was critically ill...only a special and wonderful home will do for Ava. If you might be that home, please call Tracey at 610-2773

Kira is a beautiful brown eyed, black & white female husky that also came from an abusive situation in Texas. She was one of 24 dogs seized during an illegal breeding and dog abuse case and is now looking for a forever home that will take care of her and lover her the way that she deserves. She is now spayed, about 7 yrs old and current on all of her shots. She does well around other dogs and like many of the dogs that come out of abusive situations, is a little shy and untrusting of humans, but is really warming up to people and would love to find her new home in time for the holidays!
Please call Steve at 264-2514 for more information about Kira.

"Gunner" Like most pups, this 3 month old red and white, blue-eyed husky/shepherd male is very active and he requires lots of owner and/or dog interaction and companionship. Gunner comes to Husky Rescue with some basic obedience training which will continue while he is in foster care. Folks with breed and/or puppy experience are strongly preferred.
Youngsters don't stay with us long, so call soon if you have the time and experience that Gunner needs.
Tracey, 610-2773.

Kylee is a Christmas miracle! Passing through Farmington around Christmas last year, a kind trucker found this lovely, nine month-old husky mix half-starving and freezing in the parking lot of a casino and took her into his warm cab. Since then, Kylee has been in foster care. She is in perfect health and has all her puppy shots, but still needs to be spayed. Kylee is a fast learner, loves to go on long walks, and is very affectionate. She has a very sweet disposition and gets along very well with other dogs, to whom she is submissive. Please help this lovely little girl find her forever home! Contact Steve [264-2514] for more information about Kylee.

Hermes and Aphrodite – These husky siblings were saved from the local animal control shelter in El Paso. They both tested positive for heartworm, along with being infested with ticks, however, these two have done well in extended foster care for the 18 months that were required to fully treat them for their heartworm. They are crate trained, housebroken, and very loving dogs. Hermes, the male, can't stand to be separated from his sister, and they both love nothing more than romping around with each other in the yard, except, maybe, for getting the chance to visit with young children! These two need to find a home where they can stay together, and their new yard will need to have at least a 6 foot high fence. No cats and no other male dogs, please.
If you are interested in these two wonderful huskies, please call Steve at 264-2514.

Animus is a 5 yr old male Siberian Husky with special needs that seeks an exceptional home. I have had him since he was six weeks old but can no longer meet the care he needs related to seizures. He is currently medicated and needs meds 3x per day. I would be willing to cover the expense of the meds. Animus is house trained, responds to commands, and extremely loving. He needs a home with a fenced yard but tends to be an indoor dog. He is black and white, full bred, has blue eyes, and weighs about 80 lbs. He currently lives with a cat but not sure how he would do with other cats. He loves other dogs and plays well with them. Good with kids. His perfect home would be with someone that understands seizures in dogs and that is probably home much of the day.
Serious interests only - please call (303) 229-5251 to discuss Animus with Cynthia.

Kodi is a 1 year old male Siberian Husky who loves long walks, running, and playing at the dog park. He is a chewer and loves bones and other treats. He is housetrained and loves sleeping on the couch or on the bed. He gets along great with other dogs of all sizes and small children, he is very tolerant and used to being crawled on and having his ears and tail tugged on by small children. He needs to find a new home without small animals, no cats or rodents as he cannot be trusted around them. He is current on shots, is neutered and microchipped.
Please call Steve for more information on Kodi.

This 1-2 y.o. female husky cross needs TLC and socialization with people and other dogs. A kind neighbor, Kim, rescued her from a life of misery--living on the end of a chain in unsanitary conditions with no protection from the elements, eating cat food, with no human or canine companionship. In spite of her neglectful start in life, Pase' is healthy and now spayed and current on all her shots. She is recuperating form a torn ACL which resulted from living on a chain, but no long term problems are expected. She is learning from Kim how to give and take hugs & kisses!
Pase' needs a home that has the time, skill and patience to help socialize her, teach her manners and build her trust and confidence. Cats and small children are not recommended and she will need help learning how to live with another dog. She will also need help with housetraining. Pase' can jump a 4 1/2 foot fence and crawl under a wire fence.
For more information, contact Kim @ 575 808-1375 (Carrizozo) or lcrd@zianet.com; or Tracey at 505-610-2773. We are also looking for a different foster situation for Pase', since Kim already has several dogs of her own and a very busy work schedule.
PLEASE HELP GIVE PASE' THE CHANCE SHE DESERVES!!!

Lucius
This young guy (about a year old) has been in shelters and on death row twice--first in Roswell and then in Artesia. Thanks to one of our great volunteer fosters, Lucius is now safe in Alamogordo waiting for his forever home. Lucius is a sweet, healthy guy who gets along well with other dogs. He will need continued training and socialization in his new home.
Although we are still getting to know Lucius, we do know that he has "staying power"!
If interested in Lucius, contact Tracey 610-2773
Sandy is a female husky/Akita mix that was pregnant with 8 puppies when she was taken in to rescue. Her puppies have all been placed but Sandy is now looking for a good permanent home where she can live. She gets along well with other dogs, especially males, and would make a great companion for someone that can take her on walks and give her a loving home. Please call Sally at 832-4440 if you are interested in Sandy.

Jasper is a young male husky, about 2 years old that is just a great fellow! He does well around other dogs and loves to play. He is neutered and current on his shots, microchipped, and looking for a home that can exercise him on a regular basis. He is housetrained and gets along well with other dogs, but probably needs a younger canine playmate to play with. As with most huskies, he needs a good fenced-in yard and a strong pack leader. Please cal Steve for more information about Jasper.

Rio is probably between 1 and 2 years old, gets along well with other dogs, but is a bit shy, so he will need someone that can work with him to overcome his shyness. Rio is neutered, has one brown eye and one blue eye and is a very pretty red & white, and is also a “wooley”! Once you get to know Rio you will absolutely fall in love with him.
Call Steve at 264-2514 or email him for more information about Rio.

Marley is a 1 ˝ – 2 year old black & white male with blue eyes and lots of energy! Marley listens well but since he is still just a youngster, he will need someone that can help him learn rules and boundaries, and burn off some of his energy with daily walks or runs. He is a very sweet fellow and gets along well with other dogs. Marley is housetrained and up to date on his shots. Call Steve at 264-2514 for more information about Marley.
