Blair is a playful, 1-1/2 year old, husky cross with a kind heart. Well before her first birthday, Blair was found as a stray and on death row in an overcrowded county shelter.

She was injured early in her life causing her back legs to turn in at the knees.  It appears that injury healed incorrectly.  She walks and plays fine. She plays really well with her foster playmates. She was amazingly gentle toward an older, very submissive and frightened female that came to the rescue shortly after Blair.  It was precious to see how Blair nurtured this female and with in a short time - they were all playing together.

Blair is a high energy girl that walks well on leash, sits on command and is learning more commands.  She is crate trained and is house trained.  She is people friendly and still a bit strong for children. She loves everybody and does well with older children (7-10).   An ideal home for Blair will include canine companionship to keep her busy, walks for exercise and a family to give her all the love and affection she deserves.

Blair's adoption fee is $225.00

For more information on Blair, fill out the online adoption application  and call Shirley at 575-434-2882

Takoda
Takoda
Takoda (Native American for "friend to everyone"):  1.5 y.o. large, sweet male husky/mal./shepherd cross found as a stray.  Loves people and other dogs.  Good with small breeds and kids.  Very energetic and playful.  House trained, crate trained, travels well.  Still has puppy in him and will need continued training.  Eager to please and willing to learn.  Great buddy with foster brother Sooner..... can run & play for hours!

Contact Tracey at 610-2773 for more information, but please submit an adoption application first.

Adoption Fee $225.
Hawk is a people oriented, young, male husky with a special attitude. He is about 1 1/2 year old.   He was found as a stray and rescued from an overcrowded county shelter.

He is sweet, loving and gentle. He can’t seem to get enough people time.

He has a strong husky bark and howls beautifully with the pack. He is good with most other female dogs; however,  he has a spunky, somewhat dominant attitude with some male dogs.

He would do well as an only dog if the family is home much of the day; otherwise he will likely need doggie companionship.

Hawk walks very good on leash, sits on command, is eager to please, and loves his daily walk.

Take a close look at his photo. The outline of his ears and tail appear to have been highlighted with orange. He has jet black hair and with the orange accent is very handsome.

For more information on Hawk, please complete our online adoption application and call Shirley at 575-434-2882

Loba is a young husky that was picked up as a stray and was never reclaimed by her owner. Loba is an independent husky that gets along well with other dogs. She would be a great companion dog for another male canine, as she loves to play and go for walks.

Her time had run out at the Albuquerque shelter as she was originally a little “mouthy” but has overcome that with training. She is probably only about 1 year old and is very eager to please.

If you are interested in meeting Loba, please call Steve today at 264-2514 and fill out an online adoption application.

Konrad
konrad3
Konrad: With his incredibly sweet and friendly personality, this wonderful 6 year old male will steal your heart. Konrad loves being around people and adores getting affection from his foster mom, often following her around the house. He gets along well with other dogs, both large and small, and should be very good with children too. He has excellent house-manners and is generally calm and quiet indoors. Konrad is an easy, low-maintenance dog who wants nothing more in life than to be with a loving individual or family in his forever home.

If interested in adopting Konrad, please submit an online adoption application. Call Tracey at 505-610-2773 for more information.

The adoption fee for Konrad is $175.00

Mia
Mia2-2
Mia:  Mia, a Husky - Chow Chow cross, is one of our dogs that has had a varied history. She came to us over 4 years ago from the City shelter and has had several owners after being passed around from family to family. She was recently found wandering the streets of Albuquerque by a good samaritan and we were alerted and picked her up. Mia is a very sweet dog, and since she is around 10 years old now, she is looking for someone that is retired or works from home, that can let her live the remainder of her life in the comfort of a loving home. Mia is an easy to care for dog requiring very little from humans except love.

If you would like to meet Mia or even foster her, please contact Steve today at 264-2514.
Ace: This sweet little guy is one of the happiest and most playful dogs we’ve ever met. Ace “lives to play” and he’s always inviting the other dogs in his foster home to romp or wrestle, persisting until one of them agrees. He loves being with people too and his bubbly and cheerful personality is irresistible!

Ace is probably a Samoyed or a Samoyed mix but he has the classic Siberian Husky temperament - very friendly and social, with high energy and activity levels. And, like many Huskies, he is often playfully disobedient and slightly mischievous. Ace will require an energetic and playful canine companion in his forever home, and a patient and experienced Northern breed owner who understands that Ace will always be a rambunctious, fun-loving clown. Ace is house-trained, active but well-mannered indoors, and about 1-1/2 years old.

If interested in adopting Ace, please submit an online adoption application. Contact Kirt at 505-967-6949 for more information. Ace’s adoption fee is $250.

Tango1

Tango
Tango: This loving husky/shepherd mix youngster came all the way from Missouri to find his forever home. Tango possesses all the exuberance and energy of a  puppy, loving to run and play hard with his foster brothers and sisters. Tango also has good "inside" behavior; he is house trained, crate-trained, knows basic commands and travels well.  As with any "pup", though, continued training and socialization will be needed to move Tango to his maximum potential as a canine buddy.

Tango will do best with an active family and canine companion wanting to share his love of life.

If interested in Tango, submit an adoption application and contact Tracey at 505-610-2773 for more information.

Wow, if you are interested in falling in love with the PERFECT dog, then you need to meet me, Luke!  I am a young Siberian husky cross (my humans think possibly GSD and around 1-2 years old) since I am so smart! I actually listen to my human pack and love them to pieces! I was found as a stray in the Gallup area and ended up in a small, cramped area with lots of other dogs, at what humans called a “shelter”. Some kind folks gave me a second chance and sent me to ABQ to live with SHRNM. I am called a stunner, and everyone that has met me, think the world of me!

I get along well with other dogs and love to play and exercise, so you will need to make sure I can get some running in at the dog park!

If you would like to meet me, don’t hesitate to call Steve today @ 264-2514 and tell him that you are interested in the BEST dog, Luke!

Greetings, my name is Asher. I am a delightful Siberian male with those ice blue eyes and a beautiful grey & white coat. I am good with kids, but my previous humans couldn’t contain me when their young child kept opening the front door to let me run, so I was returned after 5 years back to the great folks at Husky Rescue. I am housetrained, good on a leash and like most all Siberians, love to hang out with my human pack. I need a good fenced yard and would love a dog playmate as I still have a lot of energy .

My human caretakers think I am around 6 years old, now but I still feel 2-3! If you think you would like to see me in action, call Steve at 505-264-2514 let’s meet! You will fall in love with me…guaranteed!

Howie: When this sweet boy looks at you with his large, dark brown eyes, it’s impossible to resist giving him the love and affection he’s asking for. Howie enjoys being with people, and though he’s usually content to lay at your feet or sit by your side, he’s not afraid to climb into your lap and lick your face! Howie is also very canine-social and his forever home will need to have at least one other dog as a companion and playmate. He has a medium-high energy level, requires daily walks, and can be strong-willed, all of which indicate that Howie will need an owner who is experienced with this challenging breed. Howie is 3 to 4 years old, active but well-mannered indoors, and likes to ride shotgun in the car. He’s a hoot and will bring lots of joy to the family who adopts him.

If interested in adopting Howie, please submit an online adoption application. For more information, call Kirt at 505-967-6949. Howie’s adoption fee is $175.

Isis
Isis2
Isis: She’s brand new to Husky Rescue and what a beauty she is! Isis has a lovely all-white coat and may be a Samoyed mix (Samoyeds, like Siberian Huskies, are one of the “Northern” breeds and are very similar to huskies in size and personality). Isis is about 1 year old and has the energy and playfulness typical of a youngster. She gets along well with most other dogs but would be happiest with a male canine companion. Isis is house-trained and comfortable being indoors, but she seems to be more outdoor-oriented and enjoys sleeping under the stars. She loves attention and will undoubtedly give back the love she receives many times over.

If interested in adopting Isis, please submit an online adoption application. For more information, call Kirt at 505-967-6949. The adoption fee for Isis is $175.

Tara - 10 month old female - she weighs 35 pounds and has had a very rough life until now.  Tara came to the Husky Rescue because of a concerned neighbor.  Tara was emaciated and pregnant and her neglectful owners failed to notice she was in labor and straining to birth pups that were too large.  Thanks to a phone call from the neighbor, we got her to the vet.  When the owners learned that the puppies did not survive and Tara could no longer have puppies they signed her over to Husky Rescue.

Tara is healing. She is a delightful, curious husky pup that will be 1 year old on April 28, 2014. After all she has been through, Tara is looking for an experienced owner to love and cherish her.

Adoption fee is $250.00

Hello.  My name is Abby. I'm a small Lab mix, 1-2 years old, and I am searching for someone to love me.  I survived horrible conditions for a long time at a dog “sanctuary” in Chaparral, NM that was closed in September 2013. I still have the scars and only half of a tail.  Rescuers found me, gave me a warm bed, good food, and I am learning to trust and play.  Since September, I have lived with my other friends at the Otero County Fairgrounds and am now being kenneled at Waggin Tails kennel while I wait to be adopted.  I am pretty good with other dogs, but still a little leery.  I am learning to walk on a leash even though I'm still a little timid at times.  I am already spayed, and I have all my vaccinations.  I love toys, naps in a warm bed, and treats when I'm a 'good girl'.  We have all waited far too long to find a home of our own. We are gentle, affectionate, and ready to go to home.  Please consider adding me to your family.

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

The dogs seen below were rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in southern New Mexico in September 2013. Siberian Husky Rescue’s own Shirley Fambrough, along with many other compassionate volunteers, dedicated countless hours to saving these dogs, arranging housing and veterinary care for them, and finding loving homes for them. Dozens of dogs have already been adopted, but a few are still waiting for their forever homes. They are sweet, wonderful dogs who suffered emotional and physical abuse and neglect, but they are already overcoming their past and learning to love and trust people again. Won’t you please consider adopting one of them and providing him or her with the loving home they’ve never had?

For more information about adopting these dogs, please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

Hi.  My name is Bear.  As you can see, I’m a really handsome guy.  I’m about 5 years old, very gentle, and I get along with kids and other dogs.  I need a yard to run and play in, with a good fence keep me safe.  I am good inside a house, and I am housebroken.  Squeaky toys are a favorite of mine, but I like rawhides and milkbones, too.  My shots are up to date, I'm neutered, and I'm ready to find and love a permanent family of my own.  Would you please consider adopting me?

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577.

Hi. My name is Beau. I’m about 8-10 years old, am probably a mixed breed that includes some lab, and I'm a happy boy.  I am all black (ok, so I’m getting pretty grey with age), short haired, and I get along with most other dogs.  I am learning to walk on a leash, I come when you call me, and I love to smile, wag, and get petted.  When I'm out of my kennel, I enjoy running and playing. I LOVE balls and squeaky toys!  The only thing I need is a family of my own.  I've been living with other rescued dogs at the Otero County Fairgrounds since September 2013, after I was saved from an abusive situation in Chaparral, NM,  and am now waiting in a foster home   If you have room in your family for a roly-poly happy senior guy, would you please consider meeting me?  I've been waiting for a home and someone to love me for a very long time.  I am one of several dogs waiting patiently for someone to adopt us.

Please contact Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361 or Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577.

Gander is a terrier mix, and may possibly have some Irish Wolfhound in him.  He is about 6 years old, is neutered, and has all his vaccinations.  Gander is one of several dogs that were saved from a defunct animal “sanctuary”/hoarding situation in Chaparral, NM, in September 2013.  Even though he experienced months of trauma at the compound, he is trying very hard to trust humans again.  Gander is a medium sized dog, is very quiet, and is good with other smaller dogs.  He likes to have a place to hide so he can feel safe.  He is learning how to walk on a leash, but still gets nervous around too many people or loud noises.  He is a gentle, handsome boy with deep brown eyes and will make a wonderful companion.

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

My name is Junior. I'm still just a young pup, about 15 months old, male, neutered, and weigh about 50 pounds.  I went through a lot at the defunct "sanctuary" where I used to live.  I still have the scars.  I am happy now and have learned to play ball.  I will chase any ball you will throw for me.  I am good with other dogs and I love to run and wrestle.  I walk wonderfully on a leash and know how to sit and lie down on command.  I am also learning to greet humans...they really aren't so bad after all.  Come meet me and all my friends!

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577.

FG_BettySue
Hello.  My name is Kaya. I used to be called “Betty Sue” but I associate that name with the bad things that happened to me.  I'm a small mixed breed, about 15 months old, with medium length wavy hair.  I am searching for someone to love me.  I grew up in and survived horrible conditions at a dog “sanctuary” in Chaparral, NM that was closed in September 2013.  I still have the scars on my heart and it will take a long time for me to learn to trust and not be afraid.  Rescuers found me, gave me a warm bed, good food, and I am learning to trust and play.  Since September, I have lived with my other friends at the Otero County Fairgrounds and am now living in a foster home while I wait to be adopted.  I am good with other dogs, but still very shy and reclusive.  I am learning to walk on a leash and play with other dogs. I am very quiet and almost never bark.  I am already spayed, and I have all my vaccinations.   I love toys, peanut butter, naps in a warm bed, and treats.   We have all waited far too long to find a home of our own. We are gentle, affectionate, and ready to go to home. Please consider adding me to your family.

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.

Sadie

Meet Sadie, another survivor from the terrible abusive/hoarding situation in Chaparral, NM that was discovered in September 2013.  Sadie is about a year old, and is a pretty, short haired, mixed breed boxer female.  She is spayed and her shots are up to date.  Sadie is very sweet, gets along with most other dogs, gives hugs, loves to snuggle, and is learning to walk on a leash.  Sadie, like the other rescued dogs, is presently living in a foster home, and is in desperate need of a permanent, loving home.

Please contact Shirley Fambrough at 575-491-9577 or Kathy Wallis at 575-430-2361.
Honey & Duke ( the Heeler/Husky Dynamic Duo):
We would love to place these beautiful 1.5 y.o. youngsters together, since they have lived together for the past year and are bonded with each other.  Both are very sweet and affectionate, but a bit shy from being tethered while with their previous owner. Like most husky youngsters, Duke is very playful and energetic.

Currently in boarding because our foster homes are full, an immediate foster home is needed. But, moving them from boarding to a forever home is what we truly wish for them.

If interested in fostering or adopting Honey and/or Duke, please complete an adoption application and call Tracey at 505-610-2773.

Bodhi: Bodhi is a big and beautiful 10 month old male German shepherd mix. He is extremely sweet, good-natured, and affectionate. He has excellent house manners. He’s very mellow for his age (not hyper) and alternates being active with lounging or napping. He’s 100% potty trained, is crate trained, and uses a dog door. Bodhi is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with shots. He’s very smart, sensitive, eager to please, and trainable. He has received extensive training, including several commands (sit, down, stay, come, wait, look, heel, etc.).

Bodhi doesn’t have a mean bone in him. He’s very social and gets along great with dogs and people. He’s extremely playful and should go to a house with at least one other playful dog and a yard. He loves to romp, wrestle, chase, tug, play keep away, fetch and catch. Bodhi is submissive and doesn’t care about being top dog. He shows some anxiety in certain situations, so he’d benefit from being with an experienced dog owner who is confident, patient, and calm. Since he isn’t aggressive and is very tolerant of being handled, he might be fine with kids. He’s afraid of cats.

Please consider making this fun, loving, and easily loveable boy a part of your family! If you are interested in adopting Bodhi, please send an email with a bit about you, your situation, and any questions to:  adoptbodhi@gmail.com

Chaplin:
This 4 y.o. husky/shepherd mix is an absolute delight!  He is a quick learning,  eager to please "love bug".  He adores his humans and he is good with other dogs, too, even small breeds. Chaplin is house trained, crate trained and he travels well in the car.  He does have lots of energy and will need a home affording him a large yard and lots of exercise.  He may do well as an only dog given the right circumstances, but a female canine companion might be best.  Chaplin is also playful & vocal, so he really prefers the home of an experienced dog owner.

If Chaplin sounds too good to be true, then submit an adoption application and call Tracey at 505-610-2773 for more information.
