Meet Lumi!

Lumi is a 3½-year-old husky weighing about 55 pounds, and she’s as soft as she looks — her fur feels like a bunny’s! She’s fully potty trained, knows basic commands, and walks beautifully on a leash. She even has great recall and uses a doggie door like a pro.

Lumi is extremely loving and will be your loyal shadow. She’s been working on socializing with other dogs and has enjoyed a few trips to the dog park.

Her story is a bit bittersweet — Lumi’s mom of three years had a family emergency out of state and couldn’t take her along, even though it broke her heart. Since August, Lumi has been moved between temporary fosters while everyone hoped her mom could return for her. Sadly, that’s no longer possible, so we’re helping Lumi find her new forever home.

After all the transitions, Lumi is understandably a little anxious and will need extra reassurance at first. She’s currently in a foster home with five other dogs — there have been a few tense moments, but nothing unmanageable. We believe she could live with another dog, as long as the introduction is slow and carefully supervised.

The ideal home for Lumi would be one where she can be the center of attention — a calm, stable environment with someone who’s home most of the day, such as a remote worker or a retiree.

If you’re looking for a devoted, gentle companion who’ll stay by your side and fill your days with love, Lumi might just be your girl.
